About Mid Sask Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC)

The Community Futures Program is a federal government initiative which was established in 1986 to assist rural communities in the development of strategies for dealing with a changing economic environment. The program is based on a philosophy that local decision-making and local development are the most effective means for communities to shape their future.

Mid Sask CFDC is a key component of the western business service network established and funded by Western Diversification Canada(WD). Mid Sask CFDC is a non-profit organization run by a board of local volunteers. Mid Sask CFDC is designed to encouraged rural economic activity and entrepreneurs.

Working together with the local communities, Mid Sask helps address needs through:
     - A combination of localized long range strategic planning
     - Counselling and business development
     - Financial assistance to small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs

Community Development
The focus of Mid Sask CFDC is to intergrate the social and economic needs of the communities to foster and develop a vision for the future.

Mid Sask CFDC helps rural communities expand local economies by looking at new approaches to business development and providing access to business resources and financial assistance. This is made possible through partnerships with all sectors of the community, both private and public.

Access to Capital
Mid Sask CFDC can provide small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs access to loans not normally offered by financial institutions.
Specific loan programs delivered by Mid Sask CFDC include:
     - Loans up to $125,000.00 for new and existing small business owners
     - Business loans up to $125,000.00 for people with disabilities living in our area
     - Loans up to $25,000.00 for qualified young people between the ages of 18 and 30
